London 2012Sports Hall of Gaston REIFF’S stadium is located at about 20 kilometers from Brussels, has a view on Waterloo’s Lion, a large car park.
Sports Hall The stadium is composed of : two halls (48 x 33 m and 42 x 22 m), with the possibility of playing basket-ball, mini-footbal, handball, volleyball, badminton two dance rooms (25 x 8 m and 16.25 x 10m), two dojo’s (16.25 x 14m and 15 x 14m), an indoor petanque room (16 x 17.20m), two squash rooms (9.79 x 6.44m for both), an archery room (36 x 11m), a boxing room (10 x 12 m) and an assembly room (8 x 12m) Open air Stadium Gaston Reiff's stadium +/- 8 ha Composed of : two indoor tennis court - One race track in tartan (8 x 400m) –throwing aera – jumping area – (March 2005) one petanque ground of 800m2. - 5 soccer fields – lighting – lockers rooms Usual activities Stadium and sports Hall of Gaston Reiff Stadium (20.000 entries a month) Opening in the week : 80 hours Opening in the week-end : 25 hours History of Gaston Reiff Gaston Reiff, (born in Braine-l’Alleud in 1921 – died in 1992) was a professional athlete. He was the first Belgian gold medal-winner in athletics. He won the 5000 meters’ event, on 2nd August 1948 at the London’s Olympic Games. He also set up 26 national and 3 worlwide records. He was a very popular deputy burgomaster. Thus, the town of Braine-l’Alleud decided to give its stadium the name “Gaston Reiff”. Note: Since 2000, consecutevly, the town of Braine-l’Alleud won four gold medals at the “ville sportive” trophy .
